This week, sanofi-aventis U.S. published its first quarterly online listing of educational grant recipients as a way to demonstrate transparency and the organization’s commitment to improving patient care and outcomes. Sanofi-aventis U.S. and other pharmaceutical companies provide grants to eligible organizations to support independent medical education activities.
Each quarter, an Educational Grants Transparency Report will be published on the company’s U.S. Educational Grants website that includes the names of grant recipients, the title of the grant activity, and the funded amounts. Grant recipients can include academic medical centers, professional societies, medical education companies, hospitals and advocacy groups.
"Sanofi-aventis U.S. supports high-quality, independent medical education that aligns with our therapeutic areas of interest and expertise," explains Hilary Schmidt, Associate Vice President, Medical Education. "This quarterly report enables the public the opportunity to see which educational programs are funded by our U.S. company. This adds to our transparency, and also shows our commitment to initiatives that help reduce healthcare gaps, support safe and effective treatment, and improve patient care."
