We support not-for-profit organizations providing programs primarily focused on children and our society’s most vulnerable populations in the following categories:  

• Health – We are interested in programs which aim to improve the health of people, increase access to healthcare, focus on prevention, and/or general disease awareness primarily within the therapeutic areas in which we do business. (Examples: local and national health service agencies, hospital foundations, clinics, etc.) [Please Note:  Effective July 1, 2009, pharmaceutical manufacturers such as sanofi-aventis U.S. may not provide charitable donations to Vermont hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and any Vermont-based purchaser of prescription products for distribution in Vermont].
• Human Service – We are interested in supporting programs which strengthen families and/or improve opportunities for self-sufficiency of people within the communities in which we do business. Support for basic human service needs would also fall within this category. (Examples: domestic violence and homeless shelters, YMCA’s, at-risk youth life skills organizations, food banks and mental illness organizations)
• Education –  Funding in this category is intended to strengthen the business environment in which we do business and contribute to the future competitiveness of US business by contributing to an educated and skilled work force. Therefore, we focus on programs which increase access to, or the outcome of, the education of our youth. (Examples: support for K-12 and higher educational institutions, literacy organizations, scholarship programs, programs which increase the interest in and aptitude for math and science, and programs which improve teacher skills.)
• Environment - Funding in this category is intended to contribute to sustainability of our environment. Specific areas of interest include: Water/Land/Energy protection or conservation; Air quality or Climate Change; Bio-Diversity; Recycling Programs; or Education/Awareness about these topics.
• Civic & Community – Request within this category would fall outside of the other giving categories and should contribute toward strengthening the community, its citizens, or the business environment in some significant and measurable way. (Examples: Fire/Police departments, housing and urban renewal, neighborhood or community based groups, regional clubs.)

Geographic Locations of Focus:

We support national as well as local programs and projects.  When the geographic scope is local, programs which benefit populations in communities where we do business will receive priority.  Additionally, as the site of our U.S. headquarters, Bridgewater, New Jersey and its surrounding communities will receive the highest priority for programs with a local scope.
